Margie Kennon Tovrea (aka Kristie
Leigh Maguire) Presents Autographed Book to Governor of U.S. Virgin Islands John P. deJongh, Jr.
Margie Kennon Tovrea (aka Kristie Leigh Maguire)
presented an autographed copy of her book, From the Far Side of the Sun: A Friendship That Spanned the Distance, to Governor
John P. deJongh, Jr. (U.S. Virgin Islands) at the 1st Annual Pool Party Mixer held at the the Estate Carlton Condos
on the West End of St. Croix on Sunday August 9, 2009.
Frederiksted,
St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) – August 11, 2009
The residents,
management, and Board of Directors of the Estate Carlton Condominiums were delighted to have Governor John P. deJongh, Jr.
and Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis fly over from St. Thomas to be the guests of honor at their 1st Annual
Pool Party Mixer which was held on Sunday August 9, 2009. Many other Island residents who have ties to the condominium complex
joined with the residents of Carlton Condos in welcoming the Governor and Lt. Governor to St. Croix and to the party. The
sunny skies and tropical trade winds added just the right touch of zest to the delicious food that the residents of the condos
contributed to the occasion.
Margie Kennon
Tovrea (aka Kristie Leigh Maguire), the “resident published author” at Carlton Condos, presented Governor deJongh,
Jr. with an autographed copy of her book, From the Far Side of the Sun: A Friendship That Spanned the Distance. Ms.
Tovrea chose this book, out of the six books she has published, to present to the Governor because it is her memoirs book
of her expatriate days which began on St. Croix back in the early 1990s when her husband accepted an assignment to Hess Oil
Refinery (now HOVENSA). Ms. Tovrea considers St. Croix as the beginning of her expatriate days even though it is U.S. Territory
because it was her first experience of living outside the Continental United States.
From the
Far Side of the Sun: A Friendship That Spanned the Distance is published
by Star Publish LLC and is available online at Amazon.com. From the Far Side of the Sun includes many pictures of Ms.
Tovrea’s globetrotting days, and is the re-release of her book Emails from the Edge: The Life of an Expatriate
Wife which did not include pictures. Ms. Tovrea, writing romance under the name of Kristie Leigh Maguire, is also the author
of Affairs of the Heart: Desert Heat and Cabin Fever (Collector’s Edition), Desert Heat, Cabin Fever,
and No Lady and Her Tramp which she co-authored with Mark Haeuser. She has also contributed to several anthologies.
Affairs
of the Heart was a Number One novel in sensual romance at Amazon.com.
Desert Heat was voted Romance of the Year and Kristie Leigh Maguire was voted Best Up and Coming Author of the Year
by the Affaire de Coeur Magazine Reader/Writer Poll. Cabin Fever and No Lady and Her Tramp placed in the Top
Ten at the Preditors & Editors Poll.

Author L. Lee Parmeter
Takes Readers to the Past in Lumberton
In
the lights of current events, Lumberton by L. Lee Parmeter takes us to a different but equally trying era and shows
us the strength and perseverance that brought our country through one of its most difficult times in a child’s viewpoint
using such unbiased clarity a reader will feel, taste and experience every step of little Lee’s life as our great nation
was being rebuilt. Written as fiction, the reality of the time is no less clear and vibrant, and is bound to capture every
reader from young to young at heart.
In
1941, the country was just rising from the Great Depression and faced with one of the largest wars in our history. Lumberton’s
character, young Lee, goes about his daily chores and innocent trouble making that only a young boy can do. Through the author’s
witty and charming writing, the reader is there, experiencing the events and what it was like for a young adult growing up
in the shadow of World War II as if it happened only yesterday.
Over thirty years ago, author
L. Lee Parmeter retired from the United States Air Force with more than 23 years of military duty after entering service from
his home state of Florida. His tours of duty include Germany, Korea, Vietnam, and stateside assignments, including
special missions still classified to this day. MSgt Parmeter’s many military awards and decorations include the Vietnamese
Medal of Honor, Meritorious Service Medal, and The Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leave clusters and The Vietnamese
Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He is also a member of The Sons of the American Revolution.
Lee is very active in community
affairs, helping disabled veterans establish themselves in the civilian community and assisting them in VA disability procedures.
From the time he learned to
read from road signs and maps, Lee has been writing. He began his professional writing career as a technical writer for the
defense industry writing technical documents published for the US Navy. He is a published author in poetry as well. We can
look for many more books to come, as he is a very prolific writer. When Lee isn't wandering the back roads of America in his motor home, he resides on the Mississippi Gulf
Coast.

Star Publish Gives Voice to a “Silenced Child”
Star Publish LLC has signed a
contract with Janie Lancaster, author of Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale, to publish her second book Emily/Out of My Mother’s
Darkness.
The focus of Janie’s new book deals with emotional torment. It shows the effects that harsh words and
attitudes can have on a child. Most fictional books have their basis on something in real life, which is the case for Emily/Out
of My Mother’s Darkness. Ms. Lancaster describes her story as “autobiographical fiction.” She says: “It
was a hypergraphic, therapeutic writing journey, a journey that helped me to understand my dark past and deepen my identity.”
Readers will find her book very powerful, crushing, then inspiring - all beautiful. Star Publish is honored to have her book
join their list.
The tale takes you on a journey with Emily on a desperate search for her missing father. She
opens a forbidden cedar chest, where she encounters fancy clothes, an embroidered tablecloth, glittering jewelry and a Chinese
box. Upon unlocking the box, she discovers her mother’s darkest secrets. She invites readers to share in her struggle
to climb out of her mother’s darkness.
Lancaster’s first book has been syndicated in several newspapers
across the country, as well as being available at both online and brick-and-mortar bookstores. She plans to share her experiences
of the therapy she received while writing Emily/Out of My Mother’s Darkness by giving lectures and teaching seminars.
Therapeutic writing for troubled teens will be one of her favored topics. If you would like to schedule an appearance with
her, you can contact Ms. Lancaster at: janielbl@aol.com or call at: 760-743-7572

EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE AND BEYOND WITH THE DECODERS FIRST ADVENTURE
In today’s world, children are taught that anything
is possible. A generation or two ago the dream was often to be a fireman, a policeman or a cowboy. Today’s children
reach much farther, to being a rocket scientist, an astronaut—or even president of the United States of America.
Dr.
Marjorie Vego Krausz and Dr. Toni Hood have teamed up to explore the universe—and beyond—in their new young adult
novel, A Flight of Greed and Glory: DECODERs’ First Adventure. Both Dr. Vego Krausz and Dr. Hood have more than 30 years’
experience each, working as counselors and educators, so writing a book for young adults was a natural outgrowth for their
expertise of working with children and families.
In A Flight of Greed and Glory, a multicultural group of young people
spend a summer at a space camp. They soon form a tight bond and discover, quite by accident, a plot by the astronauts who
are there for training. Their quest for solving the problems gets them into a bit of trouble, lands them behind locked doors,
and they have to figure out how to expose the guilty person without endangering their lives, or that of the other people at
the camp.
In the process, they develop a way of problem solving that will help young readers apply their strategies
to common occurrences in the daily problems of life, from bullying to forming trustworthy friendships and relationships.
A
Flight of Greed and Glory provides plenty of mystery, intrigue and adventure, while at the same time teaching some valuable
lessons.
A Flight of Greed and Glory has just been released by Star Publish LLC. You can read an excerpt as well as

LIVE LIFE WITH THE MAYANS IN WAR STAR
RISING!
Not every father takes
his son to Belize for an 8th grade graduation gift, but the dad who is known as “Zoo Doc” is not your typical
father. The plan was to take them to Hawaii, but when someone suggested they go to Belize instead, Zoo Doc took up the challenge
and they soon ended up touring Mayan sites and studying their ancient myths and practices.
Upon completing extensive
research, both in Belize and after they returned home to California, Zoo Doc set out to write the story of the Mayan people.
While there were many that could not be included, the primary one that was the basis of his book, War Star Rising!, was the
Legend of Toucan Moon. The book spins a tale of adventure, suspense, and even romance. Some of the tale, although set many
centuries ago, has a feel of science fiction throughout. Zoo Doc's love of animals is included in the book, as they lead the
characters from one adventure to another one.
The first format the story was released in was as an award-winning script
suitable for drama groups, but Zoo Doc wanted to reach a larger audience, especially among younger readers. The book was then
written for middle-school level readers. War Star Rising! has just been released by Star Publish LLC, and it is available
at most online bookstores and will soon appear in bookstores across the US.
On a personal note, Zoo Doc and his wife
lost their daughter at an age when her life should have just been beginning. The book was written with her in mind, and it
is dedicated to her.
Experts about Belize and the Mayan people are singing high praise for War Star Rising! Lan Sluder,
Belize resident and Editor/Publisher of Belize First Magazine (www.belizefirst.com) and a Belize Travel Writer, says: “War
Star Rising! is fast-paced, well-researched and full of authentic detail. This is a ripping tale of adventure and romance...and
a roaring good read. It recreates the time long, long ago when the Maya ruled MesoAmerica. ZooDoc's book probes the mysteries
and romance of this exotic, yet somehow familiar, culture. If you've ever dreamed of jaguars and jungle, if you've ever wanted
to travel back in time to the Land of the Maya, if you have a speck of romance in your soul, this will be a book you simply
can't put down…a must read! Bravo, ZooDoc.”
In today’s troubled economics, any youngster—no
matter how old they are—can escape to a wonderful enchanting world of yesteryears at the cost of just $15.95. Buen viaje!
